The Florence Township is one of 18 townships in Stephenson County in the northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .

Florence Township is located in northwest Illinois, around 30 km south of the Wisconsin border . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa , is about 60 km to the west.
The Florence Township is located at 42 ° 14'34 "north latitude and 89 ° 41'03" west longitude and extends over an area of 46.61 km².
The Florence Township is located in the south-western suburb of Freeport , the center of the region. It borders within Stephenson County in the west on Loran Township , in the northwest on Erin Township , in the north on Harlem Township , in the northeast on the city of Freeport and in the east on Silver Creek Township . To the south, Florence Township borders Carroll and Ogle Counties .

The eastern border of the township is formed by Illinois State Route 35 , the southern arterial road from Freeport. The western arterial road of the city, not numbered as a trunk road, runs through the north. All other roads are subordinate and partly unpaved roads.
The nearest airport is Albertus Airport near Freeport, around 5 km east of the township .

At the 2010 census , the township had 1,293 inhabitants. Most of the population lives in the suburbs of the city of Freeport, without legally belonging to the city. In addition to scattered settlement there is also the community-free settlement of Florence .
