The Erin Township is one of 18 townships in Stephenson County in the northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .

The Erin Township is located northwest of Illinois, around 20 km south of the border with Wisconsin . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa , is about 60 km to the west.

Erin Township is located in the western center of Stephenson County and is bordered by Waddams Township to the north, Harlem Township to the east, Florence Township to the southeast, Loran Township to the south, Kent Township to the west and to the northwest the West Point Township .

US Highway 20 , which is the shortest connection from Dubuque , Iowa to Rockford , Illinois, runs through the township in an east-west direction . All other roads are subordinate and partly unpaved roads.
A Canadian National Railway runs parallel to it and runs west from Chicago .
The closest airfield is Albertus Airport, around 20 km to the south-east, near Freeport , the center of the region.
