The Silver Creek Township is one of 18 townships in Stephenson County in the northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .

Silver Creek Township is located in northwest Illinois, around 30 km south of the Wisconsin border . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa , is about 70 km to the west.
The Silver Creek Township is 42 ° 14'48 "north latitude and 89 ° 34'01" west longitude and extends over an area of 91.42 km². The northern border of the township is mainly formed by the Pecatonica River coming from Wisconsin , a tributary of the Rock River .
The Silver Creek Township is located in the southeast suburb of Freeport , the center of the region. It borders within Stephenson County in the west on the Florence Township , in the northwest on the city of Freeport, in the north on the Lancaster Township and in the east on the Ridott Township . To the south, the Silver Creek Township borders Ogle County .
traffic
US Highway 20 runs through the northeast township, forming the northern bypass around Freeport and from there to Rockford further east . In the center of the township, the eastern arterial road from Freeport joins Highway 20. All other roads are subordinate and partly unpaved roads.
A Canadian National Railway runs parallel to Highway 20 and runs west from Chicago .
The closest airfield is Albertus Airport , located southeast of Freeport, within Silver Creek Township .

At the 2010 census , the township had 696 residents. Most of the population lives in the suburbs of the city of Freeport, without legally belonging to the city. There is also scattered settlement over the entire area of the township.
