Florian-Jules-Félix Desprez
Florian-Jules-Félix Desprez (born April 14, 1807 in Ostricourt , Département Nord , † January 21, 1895 in Toulouse ) was a French archbishop and cardinal .
Life
Florian-Jules-Félix Desprez received his training at the Cambrai seminary and was ordained a priest there on December 19, 1829 . He held several positions in Roubaix. First he was curé at Notre-Dame de Roubaix, then vicar and from 1846 Doyen-Curé.
As Pius IX. from an apostolic prefecture the diocese of Saint-Denis-de-La Réunion re-established, he called Desprez as bishop there. The episcopal ordination donated to him on January 5, 1851 in the Church of Notre-Dame in Roubaix René-François Régnier , the Archbishop of Cambrai ; Co - consecrators were Louis-Joseph Delebecque , Bishop of Ghent , and Jean-Baptiste Malou , Bishop of Bruges . Desprez arrived in La Réunion on May 21, 1851 . There he was involved in the foundation of several church buildings. In 1857 he was transferred as bishop to the diocese of Limoges , and after two years he was appointed archbishop of Toulouse . He held this position for 35 years. In 1879 he was appointed by Pope Leo XIII. appointed cardinal . He received the title of Santi Marcellino e Pietro .
When he died in 1895, he was buried in the Sainte Germaine chapel of Toulouse Cathedral.
Honors
In 1865 he was appointed officer of the Legion of Honor . He was an honorary canon in Cambrai, Montauban , Montpellier , Limoges, Oran , Tarbes and Perpignan .

Its coat of arms has three fields. At the top left is a Jerusalem cross on a red background. The right field bears a Marian monogram on a blue background and in the lower field there is a silver anchor on a green background. The motto is: Spes nostra firma (“Faith is our strength”).
