Brač Airport (Croatian Zračna luka Brač) is the airport on the Croatian island of Brač and is located near the town of Bol , after which the airport is sometimes named. Brač Airport, along with Rijeka and Mali Lošinj Airports, is one of three Croatian island airports that are licensed for commercial air traffic.
geography
The airport is located on a central plateau on the central Dalmatian island of Brač 29 km southeast of the town of Supetar ( ferry from / to Split ) and 20 km west of Sumartin (ferry from / to Makarska ) on the road 115. The beach Zlatni Rat (Goldenes Horn), one of the most popular and best beaches in Europe, is 14 km south.
history
Brač Airport opened on May 22, 1993. The current terminal building dates from 2007.
From 2016 to 2017 the runway was extended from 1,440 to 1,760 meters, which means that aircraft with up to 150 seats of the types Airbus A319 , Airbus A220 and Embraer 195 can now use the airport.
The second phase of the runway extension provides for an expansion from 1,760 to 2,350 meters by June 2018. This means that aircraft types such as Airbus A320 and Boeing 737-800 can also be handled without restrictions.
Flights and destinations
The airport is open all year round, but is only served by commercial air traffic seasonally in summer.
