Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma ( jap. 食戟のソーマ , Shokugeki no Sōma ) is a gourmet - manganese from yuto Tsukuda with the drawings of Shun Saeki . The work has been adapted as a radio play, a series of novels and as an anime , including a German version.

action

Sōma Yukihira is a 15 year old boy who just finished middle school. Since childhood, his dream has been to become a full-time chef in his father's bistro, Yukihira , and to surpass his father's cooking skills. In order to compete with his father, they hold small cooking duels for his friends, which the father always decides for himself. But just as Sōma finished middle school, his father, Jōichirō Yukihira, closes the restaurant to cook in Europe. At first dejected, Sōma's fighting spirit is rekindled by a challenge from his father. Sōma is said to insist on an elite Tōtsuki ( 遠 月 ) cooking school , where only 10% of students graduate. First, he has to pass the entrance exam, the task of which is given to him by a high-class student, Erina Nakiri. She is one of the ten best students, the so-called ten elite. Against their resistance, although his court convinced them, he was finally accepted into the school. His goal is to become the best graduate of the school, since most of the students come from high school, but have never served guests like him. In doing so, he attracts the resentment of his classmates.

In class, he cooks with Megumi Tadokoro, a notoriously strict teacher. The girl is shy and insecure, but although her classmates initially play badly, they can impress the teacher with Sōma's practiced and improvised culinary art. Soma's accommodation in the spacious and spacious grounds of the academy is the Polarstern house, which has seen its best days. Eight other students live here, including Megumi, as well as the cheerful and revealing Satoshi Isshiki ( 一色 慧 ), who surprisingly turns out to be another member of the elite of ten.

When Sōma wants to join a club at the school, he visits the Donburi group. However, it only consists of chairman Kanichi Konishi, as the group had to assert itself against Erina. The chairman had challenged her to a cooking duel, a Shokugeki, because she had cut his club's budget so much that it could not hold out. The duel is to be carried out by the "Meat Master" Ikumi Mito ( 水 戸 郁 魅 ), Erina wants to move into her own club here. Sōma is appalled by her behavior, enthusiastic about a cooking duel and therefore takes the place of the chairman. With his recipe, which he prepares with cheap meat but with attention to every ingredient, he can defeat the Mito, famous for their meat dishes.

Soon afterwards, all the students go to a hotel run by the school and its graduates for a few days. There they are given challenging tasks by the former students. Those who fail this will be expelled from school. The flatmates from the Polarstern house initially manage to complete the tasks. The insecure Megumi owes this above all to Sōma, with whom she forms a group for the first task. But with the second, she changes the recipe to make an overripe cabbage still edible. Although she succeeds, she is told to drop out of school because of the recipe change. Sōma does not want to allow that and demands a Shokugeki against the graduate - the well-known cook Kojirō Shinomiya. This must then both exist together, Sōma may only be of little help to Megumi. Ultimately, they cannot stand up to their famous opponent in front of the jury of graduates, but the court is so lovingly made that they do not have to leave school.

As a final task, the students are asked to prepare a breakfast buffet for the hotel staff and their relatives. His friends and especially Erina are successful, but Sōma's idea initially turns out to be a failure. The soufflés collapse before the guests take them. He remembers in good time to prepare it fresh for everyone and to stage the cooking in front of the waiting people instead of preparing the dish and leaving it to stand. So he can successfully complete the excursion together with the others. When they returned, Sōma received a visit from his father. He says that he was once in school and in the elite of ten. The students are impressed and Sōma is determined to outperform his father by reaching # 1 in the elite.

The excursion will soon be followed by Golden Week and with it the opportunity for all students to go home. Sōma opens the family restaurant for a short time. But the small shopping street is doing badly, as a shopping arcade has opened nearby, in which a shop with particularly delicious fried foods attracts customers. He challenges the manager and, with the help of his school friend and Ikumi Mitos, he manages to create a fried dish that is perfect for the shopping street and that attracts customers again. Back at school, the ten elite is about to be replaced. This is done through a competition to which Sōma and some of his classmates from the dormitory are invited, including Megumi, Ikumi, Erina's right-hand man Hisako and the Aldini brothers, who see themselves as Sōma's rivals. Divided into two groups, the candidates are supposed to cook a curry dish for a prominent jury.

While preparing for the competition, Sōma meets Akira Hayama ( 葉 山 ア キ ラ ), a teacher's assistant. He comes from India and knows spices and curry like no other - in contrast to Sōma, who never got out of his parents' restaurant. Sōma is inspired by the encounter. On the day of the competition, many of the participants fail because of the strict jury. But Megumi can make it into the top five in her group, as can Hisako. In Sōma's group, Akira comes first and Sōma comes second, but only one point behind. The preliminary decision, in which a total of 8 participants advance, is followed by the final, in which the advancers in the elite of ten are determined. In which Sōma finally makes it to the final, where he competes against Akira and Ryō Kurokiba - who specializes in seafood. Against the experience of the two, he has to come up with great ingenuity. However, Akira wins because his dish is a true specialty that shows the character of the chef. So Sōma resolves to improve in order to be able to create such specialties.

In the period after the competition, there is an internship that the first-level students must complete. Sōma first comes to a restaurant with Erina's assistant Hisako Arato, which is mostly frequented by commuters. They pass the internship by not only surviving the work pressure caused by the hurried commuters, but also giving the restaurant a perspective of being able to serve its regular customers again with table reservations. Then Sōma comes as an intern in the newly opened French restaurant of Kojirō Shinomiya in Tokyo. After the last encounter with Sōma and Megumi, the latter is friendlier and not so strict anymore, but Sōma has a hard time keeping up with the other's pace at work. But he is hardworking and curious, so that he manages to learn a lot of things in one week so that at the end he can also create his own dish inspired by French cuisine.

Back at school it's time for the school festival, for which everyone can open their own stand. Sōma is enthusiastic and immediately wants to compete with Terunori Kuga from the elite of ten. He promised Sōma a Shokugeki against him if he beats Kuga at the school festival. But very soon Sōma discovered that the Tōtsuki school festival was taking place on such a large scale that he could not manage the stand alone. In addition, he has set himself up opposite Kuga's popular and well-known stand for Sichuan cuisine and wants to beat him with Chinese food. If Sōma is to lose money at the festival, as happens to him on the first day, he has to leave school. So he thinks about a new dish with similar ingredients for each subsequent day. In the end, he adds festive lighting to the stand and gets help from all of his friends and former rivals. So he can at least beat Kuga on the last day, even if he still wins for the whole festival.

At the end of the festival, Sōma visits the stands of other members of the elite of ten: Platz 1 Eishi Tsukasa and Erina - and is impressed by their culinary skills. Suddenly her father Azami Nakiri, who had been banned from school, appears at Erina's house. He announces that the majority of the Ten Elite have decided to make him head the school. Shocked and without a handle, however, the rest of the tens and many Tōtsuki students and teachers have to accept the takeover and Erina's grandfather reluctantly gives his place to his son. But he secretly asks Sōma to protect the school and Erina. Azami Nakiri wants to reform the school in his own way: The clubs will all be dissolved and everything should be cooked according to the given recipes so that everyone can achieve the desired perfection. The curriculum is given by the ten elite and their environment, now called Central . In addition, Azami Nakiri wants to bring his daughter back under his control and raise her so that she spurns every imperfect dish and despises her cook. The clubs want to defend themselves against their dissolution in Shokugekis, but at the first competition the jury is bribed by Central . Sōma could not be dissuaded and went to a Shokugeki to save the threatened with dissolution Polarstern dormitory. He cooks so well that the jury can't help but declare him the winner. Satoshi then has Isshiki explain that Central will now accept all Shokugeki into clubs and that they will be fair. For this Isshiki is excluded from the elite of ten, but Central has to adhere to this rule.

Many clubs also lose in fair competitions, but some can win. Including Ryō Kurokiba for Alice Nakiri, who hates Azami Nakiri because he has cut off her contact with her cousin Erina. Meanwhile, Erina was brought to safety from her father in the Polarstern. While the competitions are running, Sōma meets Eishi and competes in an unofficial duel against him, which Sōma loses. Although this has no consequences, Sōma shows that he still has to learn a lot to get against Central. He and his friends also learn that it is Central's goal after the redesign of Tōtsuki to close all restaurants with simple cuisine and for the general public in Japan, so that there are only delicatessen restaurants. That would also affect Soma's and Megumi's families.

Soon after, the promotion test is due, in which the school management should exclude all “rebels” from the school. The entire student body embarks on a journey through Hokkaido , where each student is supposed to take exams at various stations. The rebels of the Polarstern dormitory and their friends vow to pass all exams together. Despite Central's best efforts to make it as difficult for them as possible, they all pass the first round of exams. For the second they are divided. Sōma, Erina, Megumi and Takumi Aldini stay together and can all face their duels with representatives of the new ten elite - Sōma against Akira, who had joined Central to save his research group, but lost his soul as a cook. But then the four of them have to find out that everyone else has lost. On the train they meet Sōma's father and Erina's grandfather, from whom they learn the story of Jōichiro Yukihira and Azami Nakiri's school days at Tōtsuki. Both were friends and Azami has always admired the hugely successful Jōichiro. But when Jōichiro collapsed from all the expectations placed in him, left school and gave up cooking for some time, which Azami disappointed and finally repelled. Therefore, he now wants to redesign the school and the entire culinary world according to his ideas. The friends decide to save their comrades and together with Jōichiro Azami Nakiri and Central challenge them to group shokugeki. This takes place as the last test and is intended to decide whether the rebels will stay at the school and whether Sōma’s friends can fill the ten elite again. Jōichiro, on the other hand, continues the existence of his pub and his followers to Azami.

For Central's group Shokugeki, the ten elite, cheered on by the rest of the school. Sōma was able to win over the expelled from the ten elite for his side - among them Satoshi Isshiki. Together with Sōma and her third ally, he wins the first of three rounds against Central, thanks to their ingenuity and adaptability in contrast to the traditional, conservative culinary art of the ten elite.

Characters

Sōma Yukihira

Sōma Yukihira ( 幸 平 創 真 ) is the protagonist of Shokugeki no Sōma . He is the son of Jōichirō Yukihira, who is the owner of the Yukihira restaurant. Sōma is 15 years old, has yellow eyes and red spiky hair. A vertical scar adorns his left eyebrow. Sōma is an optimistic young chef with a strong urge to improve his cooking skills. He has already played almost 500 cooking duels with his father. He is very confident of his abilities, always looking for new challenges to prove his skills and to test the limits of his culinary art. This is one of the reasons why Sōma always finds himself in very difficult situations. However, he always remains calm and serene, never runs away from a challenge and so continues to improve his cooking skills. Sōma is also flexible and innovative, which means that he is not tied to ordinary cooking procedures, which enables him to create incredible dishes. But he often takes great risks that endanger his entire career as a chef. Sōma is not afraid to admit that his opponent is better than him, nor does he know that he is not perfect. Sōma's self-set goal is to become a better cook than his father; he sees every defeat as an incentive to become better. Because of his speech when he was admitted to the Tōtsuki, many of his classmates are hostile to him, but Sōma is actually a very friendly person and quickly makes friends with the Tōtsuki. Sōma is also very relaxed and friendly towards his rivals Takumi Aldini, Alice Nakiri and Erina Nakiri. Even if he is insulted, Sōma never replies. If he wins, he does not enjoy the other's defeat, but rather helps his opponent to become a better cook.

Erina Nakiri

Erina Nakiri ( 薙 切 え り な ) is one of the main characters and a rival of Yukihira Sōma. She occupies tenth place of the Totsuki elite and, in addition to a profound knowledge of dishes from all over the world, also has the best palate in the world, which is why she is also called “God's tongue” ( 神 の 舌 ). Erina has pink eyes and long orange hair that reaches just below her back. She is considered extremely attractive to most of the students in Totsuki and has a large number of fans. She always wears the Totsuki uniform and, when she cooks, a standard white uniform. Erina is extremely privileged and very spoiled, which is due to her high status and her rare ability to "God's Tongue". Despite her age, she is a prominent figure in the culinary world and is often called a cooking prodigy. Her culinary skills are on par, if not better, with most professional chefs. With the help of her tongue, she has ruined the reputation of many chefs, as only very sublime dishes appeal to their palate and an unsatisfactory dish presents the chef as incompetent. Your name alone is enough to terrify a multitude of home cooks within seconds. At the same time, Erina enjoys a lot of influence due to her incredible skills. Erina's upbringing, in which she was served only the best of the culinary world, led to her very proud manner and her conviction that she was the best that the Totsuki has to offer. Since she has only been served the highest quality dishes since childhood, she often makes hasty judgments without having tried the dish, and justifies this by calling the dish unworthy. Even if she likes such dishes, Erina denies it. Her title is extremely important to her and she is proud of her status, which is why she likes to flaunt it in front of her classmates, especially her rival Sōma. Nevertheless, Erina is more than willing to listen to the opinions and advice of others, and is usually very polite. Due to the luxury in which Erina grew up, she has difficulties with everyday activities: she has no idea where to buy clothes because Hisako always does this for her.

Megumi Tadokoro

Megumi Tadokoro ( 田 所 恵 ) is 15 years old, one of the main characters in Shokugeki no Sōma and specializes in the home-style cooking of Northern Japan. Megumi has long, blue-black hair with two braids in it and wears a flower-shaped hairpin on the right side of her hair. She has yellow colored eyes and a petite body figure. She wears the standard Totsuki uniform and her cooking uniform is kept in a plain white. Megumi is a clumsy, thoughtful, very scared, but also friendly and honest girl who always speaks in a polite tone. She is the kind of person who is always willing to help others in any way. Megumi cooks for the guests so that they feel comfortable, and she expresses this with her dishes. Her cooking even drew her cold Kojiro Shinomiya into nostalgic childhood memories. Her wish is to return home to her home village as a top chef and Totsuki graduate. Her mother taught her that when she cooks, she should think of someone special. Since then, Megumi has believed that she can create delicious dishes this way. Although Megumi is a skilled cook, she does not cope well with pressure because she suffers from enormous stage fright. Because she is very easy to intimidate, she makes many simple mistakes in cooking, which is why many students consider her a weak cook. Megumi is also very careful with the choice of her words and always tries not to say or do anything wrong, in order to avoid the resulting attention. She has a habit of drawing the kanji for person ( ) on her hand with her finger and then pretending to eat it to calm herself down.

Takumi Aldini

Takumi Aldini ( タ ク ミ ・ ア ル デ ィ ー ニ ) is a Totsuki student, the self-proclaimed rival of Yukihira Soma and specializes in Italian cuisine. Takumi has blonde hair and blue eyes, and he has extremely good taste when it comes to fashion, which even earned him his own fan club because of his good looks. At school he wears the normal Totsuki school uniform and while he cooks a tailor-made uniform from the time he worked in his uncle's restaurant, the "Trattoria Aldini", on whose left sleeve the name of the restaurant is sewn. Outside of school, however, Takumi dresses extremely fashionably. Takumi and his brother are half Italian and half Japanese and grew up in Florence, Italy with their uncle, who is the owner of the Trattoria Aldini. Takumi started cooking at the age of 5 and was taught Italian cuisine by his father. Takumi was extremely talented and, with his brother, set himself the goal of making Trattoria Aldini the best restaurant in Italy. He and his brother have a very close bond, so Takumi always tries to help his brother become a better cook, even when they are competing. The strong bond is best seen when both cook together as they complement each other perfectly. Takumi is also similar to Soma in that he hates failure and tries to learn from everyone. Takumi is also fluent in Italian and is a master of Italian cuisine, he even has a slogan that he utters when someone tries his dish, "buon appetito" and sometimes just "grazie". Like Soma, Takumi is extremely proud of his origins and is also willing to defend the good name of his restaurant, no matter what challenge he may face.

Hisako Arato

Hisako Arato ( 新 戸 緋 沙子 ) is a student who specializes in Chinese medical meals ( 薬 膳 や く ぜ ん , yakuzen ), personal secretary Erina . Hisako has short shoulder length pink hair and light brown eyes. Most of the time, she wears the normal Totsuki school uniform even when she is outside the school premises, but she wears a plain white uniform while cooking. Hisako also wears glasses when working on the computer. Hisako is a loyal friend of Erina and is always by her side. As Erina's personal secretary, she helps her organize her appointments so that Erina can concentrate on her work. Most of Hisako's ambitions are to help Erina stay at the top of the class. Hisako often cares more about Erina than about herself, which has been the case since childhood. She has no problem always staying by Erina's side and often introduces her to new things; so Erina had no idea about shōjo mangas. Like Erina, Hisako is extremely stubborn and proud. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for Hisako to reprimand other classmates for not treating Erina with the necessary respect.

Alice Nakiri

Alice Nakiri ( 薙 切 ア リ ス ) is a ninety-second graduate student at Totsuki, Erina Nakiri's cousin and specializes in molecular cuisine . Alice has short silver hair with a long left strand and red eyes which differ from those of other female characters in several distinct features of the iris. Furthermore, her eyes always change when she makes fun of someone and adopt a cartoon-like drawing style. Alice inherited almost all physical traits from her mother, which is why she resembles her in many ways. In contrast to her classmates, Alice does not wear a normal, but a cream-colored uniform. Her cooking uniform is a short-sleeved white uniform with red sleeves and a collar. As a member of the prestigious Nakiri family, Alice is held in high regard due to her parentage, but she is not as cocky as Erina. Alice likes to illustrate the difference between her skills and those of her opponent, which is why she likes to measure herself against others. As an expert in the field of molecular cuisine, Alice appreciates not only the culinary aspects of cooking, but also the artisanal aspects. To be successful as a chef in the modern world, a chef must take both of these aspects to the highest level, which they bring to life in their own dishes by reflecting the true beauty of their ingredients in their dishes. Unlike her cousin, Alice is very friendly and in a good mood, even to her rivals she speaks quite normally, sometimes just to annoy them, something she has from her mother. Alice often tends to overreact in various situations, which is why she often starts sulking when she doesn't get her way. In contrast to her cousin, Alice is much more modern and very cunning, so she often gets Erina to bow to her will by using reverse psychology. Just like Erina, Alice is almost never found alone, as she is always accompanied by her childhood friend Ryō, with whom she is quite bossy. However, this and her "mood swings" are only temporary and after a short time she will behave normally again.

Ryō Kurokiba

Ryō Kurokiba ( 黒 木 場 リ ョ ウ ) is a Totsuki student and a close friend of Alice Nakiri and specializes in seafood dishes. He has a well-built body, and he has a number of features, such as his remarkably long, unkempt brownish black hair that frames his face. Ryō has an overall very wild appearance, which is further brought out by his red eyes. Mostly Ryō is shown with a rather indifferent facial expression, which makes him look rather lazy. Furthermore, he has a very short attention span, which is why he usually only answers a question after a few times, but he always remains attentive to Alice's needs concerns. However, this indifferent facial expression changes drastically when Ryō begins to cook, whereby his face is suddenly emphasized much sharper and more violently and indifference can no longer be recognized. However, not only does Ryō's appearance change, but also his behavior, making him much more intimidating than before. Ryō wears a normal Totsuki school uniform in which he wears the jacket open. He also wears a tie and a dark tank top under his uniform, as well as bracelets on his wrists. Like Soma, Ryo has a headgear with a signature that he puts on while cooking. If Ryō does not wear this headgear, it is tied around his right wrist. Compared to the time before Ryō was a Totsuki student, not much has changed in his appearance, only his hair as a child was shorter than his hair as a student, but he already had his bandana back then. Ryō is not shy and has no problem defending his opinion in front of others, even if that person is Alice, but Ryō only speaks when necessary or when he is alone with Alice. His way of expression is rather simple and slow. Due to the bond he had with Alice in his youth, Ryo obeyed her requests and protected her from any kind of threat. According to Alice, Ryo has a strong drive to give it his all in competitions as unfit cooks have been kicked out of the pub he worked at as a kid. Furthermore, all kitchens are a battlefield for Ryō, where the cooks showcase their skills and power through their dishes. It is for this reason that he loathes connections among chefs, since in his opinion these "soft feelings" suppress the true abilities of a chef. However, Ryō recognizes chefs who have proven themselves with this style, which is why he recognizes Megumi after the Shokugeki he denies with her. The only thing that matters to Ryō is that the guest admits that his dish is tasty. His new personality, which he unleashes while cooking, is much wilder and more untamed than his normal behavior, it resembles that of a wild animal and was named "Berserker Mode" by Alice. His facial expressions also become much wilder and even intimidate some with a single look, furthermore his expression changes and he begins to speak much more aggressively than he usually does. Even in his youth he could intimidate even the most intrepid seafarers with this personality. However, if his bandana is removed, he immediately reverts to his usual personality, even if it is in the middle of a sentence. Ryō is aware of this additional personality, but regardless of his personality retains his wild urges, which allow him to be a "master of seafood" as soon as he begins to cook.

Jōichirō Yukihira

Yukihira Jōichirō ( 幸 平 城 一郎 ) is 38 years old, Yukihira Sōma’s father and the owner of the Yukihira restaurant. Jōichirō has long, dark hair combed back, with a single strand hanging at the front over his face and down to his chin. His eyes are more serious than Sōma's and he has a slight beard on his chin. Like his son, Jōichirō is calm, but also has a professional and serious side that comes to the fore when he cooks. His passion for cooking knows no bounds and his skills are world-famous, he cooks so well that a staunch high priest could not obey the practices and convictions of his religion, otherwise he would not have been allowed to eat Jōichirō's food.

Isami Aldini

Isami Aldini ( イ サ ミ ・ ア ル デ ィ ー ニ ) is a Totsuki student and the younger brother of Takumi Aldini. Isami is plump and tall, even taller than his older brother Takumi, he has black, very spiky hair combed back and very cartoon-like little eyes. Isami also has teeth, which are very similar to shark teeth, which can be seen when he smiles or laughs. If Isami cooks, he is extremely serious, his eyes turn completely white and his face takes on a darker shade. During the summer vacation leading up to the 43rd Totsuki Fall Election, Isami loses a tremendous amount of weight, revealing his eyes. After losing weight, Isami's appearance resembles that of his brother Takumi, which well illustrates their same ancestry. Isami's hair is still the same as it was before his enormous weight loss, but his eyes are now open and in a much sharper style than before, and his shark teeth are no longer visible. Isami has blue eyes like his brother Takumi, which can be seen after weight loss. According to Takumi, Isami always gains weight in winter and then loses it again in summer. In contrast to his rather fiery brother, Isami is rather calm, peaceful and very relaxed towards others, but Isami has the same fiery passion as his brother when it comes to cooking. Behind Isami's happy behavior there is usually a great inner pain from his childhood, because although he is superior to his brother Takumi in almost every respect, Isami is inferior to Takumi in cooking (the most important area for Isami), which is in him the desire formed his brother to surpass. However, Isami does not achieve this, which is why a severe inferiority complex develops in his childhood. However, Takumi heard this and assured Isami that he needed him as a good cook in order to be a good cook, whereupon they promised to make the "Trattoria Aldini" the best restaurant in Italy. Isami also tends to laugh at his brother Takumi when he is misunderstood again by classmates, and Isami loves to annoy his brother when they cook or play cards together. Overall, Isami has a very strong bond with his brother Takumi and does everything possible to support his brother when they do something together, this can be seen especially when they cook together, as they form a perfect team.

Ikumi Mito

Ikumi ( 水 戸 郁 魅 ) is a student of the Totsuki and also known among her classmates as "Meat Master" ( ミ ー ト マ ス タ ー ) because of her specialization in meat dishes . Ikumi has short blonde hair, turquoise eyes (she has green eyes in the anime) and has tanned skin. Unlike the rest of the students, who usually wear Totsuki uniforms, Ikumi wears the modified summer Totsuki uniform as well as a collar. Her chef clothes consist of a bikini top, short shorts and two leather bracelets. She comes from an influential family, the Mito family, who are highly valued in the meat industry. As the daughter of such a noble house, she displays her skills and status in front of those who do not correspond to her class. She has a very fiery, combative personality and takes great pride in her remarkable skills as a cook and meat expert. Ikumi is a strong and independent individual, which she got from her father, who made her aware at a very early age that the Mito company would need a strong successor and not a little girl. Behind her hard shell, however, there is a soft core, which can be seen after eating Sōma's chaliapin steak, after which she finds her way back to her former self and no longer looks down at others. After losing Shokugeki to Sōma, her behavior changes and she becomes much friendlier towards her classmates, but above all towards Sōma. She is also called Nikumi after the Shokugeki against Soma, which is a nickname (Nikumi is a play on her name and the Japanese word niku, 肉, which means meat; written in hiragana means "nikumi", に く み, however " hated ", with which Sōma teases her after the cooking duel.) Soma gave her after the Shokugeki. At first Ikumi disliked this nickname, but this changed quickly when Sōma said that "Nikumi" sounds cute, whereupon everyone who is close to Ikumi has permission to call her Nikumi. These special people include Sōma and the girls from the "Polarstern" dormitory. After the Shokugeki against Sōma, Ikumi is slightly in love with Sōma, but much too shy to admit it. This can be seen well when Sōma asks her to help him create a new recipe and she agrees without much ado, or when Ikumi is jealous of Sōma's childhood friend because she disrupts the togetherness with Sōma. However, she always offers all her knowledge and skills to support Sōma with his problems, even if they are never alone.
