The National Park Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna forms the mountain ridge between Romagna and Tuscany .
geography
Its territory includes many mountains of the Apennines and numerous valleys whose rivers flow to both the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian Sea . The national park stretches within the boundaries of three historical areas: Romagna, Casentino and part of Mugello . Today these areas belong to the two provinces of Forlì-Cesena and Arezzo and to the metropolitan city of Florence .
Flora and fauna
Sweet chestnuts are partially pure stands in the national park. The fauna offers a good population of fallow deer and red deer , roe deer and wild boar . They are the prey of the wolf , which has a healthy population in the national park. Other animals are foxes , hares , martens , eagle owls and golden eagles .
