Previous areas of activity

Boiler, electric cooker

In order to be able to work the French market, Sauter saw the need to set up a French production site. In 1923 Fritz Sauter and Godefroy Schlumberger founded the Société pour l'exploitation des Procédés Sauter Sàrl in Saint-Louis, Alsace . Sauter was in the French production facility initially only boiler of the brand Cumulus and storage heaters brand Primulus assemble. The Second World War caused the French government to relocate the border industry to the interior of the country and so the Procédés Sauter moved to Claye-Souilly , which also alienated them from the Swiss partner. In 1948 Sauter sold his shares in Procédés Sauter to Continental et Garnier and on June 1, 1948 founded a new subsidiary in Saint-Louis, Sauter Appareils Automatiques SA . While Continental et Garnier continued the Sauter brand for the household appliance sector, the new company dealt with control technology .

Garnier was taken over by Schlumberger in 1972 . The Sauter kitchen appliance brand came to the Spanish Fagor Group via Brandt SA , which filed for bankruptcy in November 2013. In April 2014, Fagor was partially taken over by the Algerian Groupe Cevital.

Electricity meter

In 1991, the building technology activities in France were spun off into a new company, Sauter Regulation SA . The activities remaining in Sauter Appareils Automatiques SA (development, production and sale of electricity meters for the French market) were sold to the Zellweger Luwa Group in 1992 . These activities came from Zellweger to the German Meter Society, which closed the plant , which has since been relocated to Mulhouse , in 2007.

Ozonation and control of water supply systems

In 1948 the entry into the control of water supply systems with a water reservoir began in Les Brenets . Together with the Compagnie des eaux et de l'ozone , the drinking water supply of the psychiatric canton hospital in Boudry in Neuchâtel was renovated in 1955 . As a result, the ozonation of drinking water developed into a separate line of business. From 1972, Sauter ozone systems were also used to neutralize odors in the exhaust air from sewage treatment plants. The ozonation business was sold to Christ AG around 1980 .

The initially remaining business with the control of water supply systems was sold to Rittmeyer AG in 1996 .
