François Gnonhossou
François Gnonhossou SMA (born December 3, 1961 in Dassa-Zoumé ) is a Beninese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Dassa-Zoumé .
Life
François Gnonhossou graduated from the State University of Cotonou with degrees in accounting and civil law . He joined the Society of Africa Missions and studied at the seminaries in Ouidah and Ibadan . He made his perpetual vows on December 6, 1996 and was ordained a priest on July 26, 1997 .
After working in pastoral care, he studied at the Institut Catholique de Paris from 2003 to 2004 . After years in the regional leadership of the Order in Africa, he worked in Canada from 2009 to 2013. In 2013 he was called to the General Government of the Order in Rome.
Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Dassa-Zoumé on February 12, 2015 . He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in Benin, Archbishop Brian Udaigwe , on March 28 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Cotonou , Antoine Ganyé , and the Archbishop Emeritus of Niamey , Michel Christian Cartatéguy SMA.
