François Kalist

François Michel Pierre Kalist (born October 30, 1958 in Bourges , Cher Département , France ) is a French clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Clermont .

Life

François Kalist studied at the Institut Catholique de Paris and at the seminary in Carmes. He completed his studies with a licentiate in biblical theology and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Bourges on December 21, 1986 .

After a brief activity as a chaplain, he went to the Orléans seminary as a teacher and instructor , where he also worked as a subregens . In 1991 he took up further studies at the Institut Catholique de Paris, where he was awarded a Dr. theol. received his doctorate . In 1999 he returned to his home diocese and became a pastor. From 2001 he was responsible for training issues, from 2002 episcopal vicar for adult education, and from 2004 appointed commissioner for ecumenical issues .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on March 25, 2009 Bishop of Limoges . The Archbishop of Poitiers , Albert Rouet , ordained him episcopal on May 17th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Armand Maillard , Archbishop of Bourges , and Christophe Dufour , Coadjutor Archbishop of Aix . As a motto he chose Que tous soient un .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Clermont on September 20, 2016 . The inauguration took place on November 27 of the same year.
