Francesco Diodati

Francesco Diodati (* 1983 in Rome ) is an Italian jazz musician ( guitar , composition ).

Diodati initially listened to pop and rock music , but turned to jazz at the age of 14. Between 2008 and 2010 he completed a master’s degree in Siena and studied with Kurt Rosenwinkel , Marc Ducret , John Abercrombie , Hein van de Geyn , Jeff Ballard , Drew Gress , Seamus Blake and Roberto Cecchetto . Due to his academic achievements, he was able to take part in cultural exchanges with students from the Paris Conservatory and the Berklee Global Jazz Institute at the Panama Jazz Festival and for a series of concerts in New York and Boston . In 2009 he received a scholarship to study at the New School for Contemporary Music in New York, where he studied with Reggie Workman , Ben Allison , Peter Bernstein and Rachel Z , among others .

Diodati is the head of Neko , which includes Francesco Bigoni, Carlo Conti, Francesco Ponticelli and Ermanno Baron, with whom he has released two albums on Auand Records . He also recorded two albums for this label with his Yellow Squeeds Quintet . Since 2010 he has also been a member of Tim Isfort's ambitious MyanmarMeetsEurope project , with which he gave numerous concerts in Europe and Asia. He became known to a wide audience since 2014 as a member of Enrico Rava's quartet , with whom he also performed as a duo. He also accompanies the Apulian singer and songwriter Erica Mou and belongs to the Marcello Allulli Trio, the Italian-French group Travelers around Matteo Bortone, the group Abhra of Julien Pontvianne , Bobby Prevites Plutino , various ensembles of the Roman singer Ada Montellanico, the Contemporary Five around Gaetano Partipilo and Simona Severini's group. He also worked with Jim Black , Dave Binney , Paolo Fresu , Antonello Salis , Shane Endsley , Sofia Ribeiro , Javier Moreno , Fabrizio Bosso , Roberta Gambarini , Greta Panettieri , Ada Montellanico and Gaetano Partipilo .

In 2013, 2014 and 2015 he was named best guitarist in the readers poll of JazzIt magazine .
