Frank Michael Zeidler

Frank Michael Zeidler (born March 22, 1952 in Leipzig ) is a German painter and draftsman . He lives and works as a freelance artist in Potsdam .

biography

Frank Michael Zeidler was born in Leipzig on March 22, 1952 and grew up in Ulm on the Danube . He attended the Kepler High School and passed the Abitur there in 1972 . As a career choice at the time of the baccalaureate, he gave acting and played in independent groups, according to army and civil service , he was a paramedic trained and worked for five years in emergency personnel.

At the same time he began his first degree at the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen and studied German and philosophy . In 1978 he applied to the Hochschule für bildende Künste, HdK Berlin for the subject of free painting and graphics and studied with professors Marwan Kassab-Bachi , Kuno Gonschior and Martin Engelman . In 1982 he completed his studies as a master student with Martin Engelman and began an interdisciplinary collaboration with the composer André Werner in 1992 .

In 2000 Zeidler founded the Kunsthaus Potsdam together with Hubertus von der Goltz and in 2002 initiated the Kunstverein Kunsthaus Potsdam . From 2000 to 2016 Frank Michael Zeidler was chairman of the German Association of Artists and was made honorary chairman in 2016. Since 2010 he has been chairman of professional group I (visual artists) of the administrative board of VG Bild-Kunst and member of the board of the Art Fund Foundation .

  • 1979: First prize of the New Darmstadt Secession
  • 1989: Berlin Art Prize, Fine Arts Promotion Prize of the Berlin Academy of the Arts
  • 1992: First prize from the Federal Building Directorate and implementation of “Six Tables” for the representative rooms of the German Embassy in Helsinki , Finland
  • 2000: Sponsorship award from the Ilse Augustin Foundation, Berlin
  • 2004: First prize and realization for the design of the “Great Hall” at Heemstede Castle, Utrecht, Holland
  • 2018: Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany
