Franz Ackermann (lawyer)

Franz Xaver Josef Ackermann (born July 11, 1778 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † March 12, 1837 Rio de Janeiro ) was a lawyer in the Baden state service since 1807 and was retired on May 1, 1832. He was also a member of the Baden Estates Assembly and from August 1, 1833 he was consul in Rio de Janeiro.

Life

After graduating in 1794, Ackermann studied law and humanities (including history) at the University of Freiburg . On September 21, 1797 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . After his applications for a professorship in world history failed in 1798 , he worked, among other things, as a tutor until he became a member of the commission for the construction of the Dreisam River in 1802 . Then he was a teacher at a private school.
