Life and work

Tripp began his professional life as a journalist and writer . At the end of the 1930s he began to supplement the texts he had written with self-made illustrations. After the end of the Second World War , he decided to put the graphic work at the expense of the writing activity in the foreground. Until 1949 he trained with the painter and graphic artist Heinrich C. Berann in Innsbruck . He then worked as a freelance commercial artist. In the course of time he also increasingly produced book illustrations .

In 1960, the publisher Lotte Weitbrecht from Thienemann Verlag commissioned him with the illustrations for the children's book Jim Button and Lukas the Locomotive Driver by Michael Ende . This was followed by further orders of the publisher: In addition to the second volume of Jim Knopf he illustrated many other books for children, including Robbi, Tobbi and Fliewatüüt of Boy Lornsen , from 1962 all three volumes of the robber Hotzenplotz and 1966. The small ghost , each of Otfried Preußler written . For the publisher Ueberreuter (later in Tosa-Verlag), the illustrations created to Meffi -Bänden of Doris Jannausch and the book Williwack of Günter Spang , for Franz Schneider Verlag to Felix the master detective of Hans Gustl Kernmayr .
