The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady (also: Frauenkirche ) is a Gothic pseudo-basilica in Wasserburg am Inn in the Rosenheim district in Upper Bavaria . It belongs to the parish of St. Jakob Wasserburg in the deanery Wasserburg of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising .

History and architecture

The Frauenkirche is a plastered brick building from the beginning of the 14th century and was first mentioned in 1324. It adjoins the city tower, which was probably built around 1300, was vaulted in 1339 and consecrated in 1386. The spire was completed by Wolfgang Wiser in 1501/1502 and renewed in 1730. In 1753 the interior was redesigned. A renovation took place in 1974/1975.

The church is a three-aisled staggered hall of four bays with a short choir with a three-eighth end and a tower in front of it with a ground floor passage and a pointed spire over four corner cores. A wall painting with the Annunciation to Mary from the 18th century and St. Christopher from 1593 is attached to the outer wall of the sacristy built in the southeast .

The significantly higher central nave without upper aisle is closed by a barrel vault with stitch caps on jacketed pillars and services, the side aisles by ribbed vaults. The painting was done according to an inscription above the gallery in 1750 by Johann Paul Kurz with scenes from the Lauretanian litany , the Holy Trinity and the veneration of Mary; On the walls of the upper storey there are 14 representations from the feasts of Mary, in the side aisles there are four female figures from the Old Testament.

Furnishing

The high altar is a work from the last quarter of the 17th century. As a miraculous image, it shows the Enthroned Mother of God from around 1430, which is attributed to the Master von Seeon , in front of an altar sheet with the view of Wasserburg am Inn, probably from the 18th century. Four side altars date from around 1700. The left pillar altar is decorated with an oil painting of Saint Joseph and figures of Saints Joachim and Anna , the right with a painting of the Annunciation and panels of Saints Elisabeth and Thomas . In the side aisles there are inclined altars, the northern one with a painting showing the death of St. Francis Xavier and late Gothic figures of Bishop Blasius and St. Barbara ; the southern one with a painting of the Blessed Michelina in front of the Calvary with St. Anthony of Padua below.

The pulpit from 1753 is decorated in traditional forms with foliage and ribbon work . The brick gallery with parapet from the second half of the 16th century shows figures of Saints Franz de Paula , Karl Borromeo , Johann Nepomuk and Petrus von Alcantara from around 1760 on the supporting columns .

The Vespers picture from 1640 shows St. Magdalena . Several votive tablets from the 18th century with the plague cartridges Rochus , Sebastian and depictions of Wasserburg citizens from 1772 are also to be mentioned. An octagonal red marble holy water font dates from around 1520.

The organ is a work by Anton Staller from 1979 with 16 stops on two manuals and pedal .
