Fred Hole

Fred Hole (born May 8, 1935 in Cardiff , Wales , † February 4, 2011 in Gerrards Cross , Buckinghamshire ) was a British art director .

Life

Fred Hole's career in the art department began with the film Insel des Schrecken , where he worked as an assistant art director. As a draftsman he worked on the three James Bond films James Bond 007 - You Only Live Twice , James Bond 007 - Diamond Fever and James Bond 007 - Live and Let Die, but remained unnamed in the credits.

From 1978 to 1979 he was the art director of the television series Five Friends .

After working as assistant art director at The Empire Strikes Back , he was appointed chief art director at The Return of the Jedi . For this work, together with Michael D. Ford , Norman Reynolds and James L. Schoppe, he received a nomination for best production design at the 1984 Academy Awards .

He stayed true to both the James Bond and the Star Wars film series . He was also involved in Aliens - The Return and Alien 3 . In 2007 he received the Excellence in Production Design Award from the Art Directors Guild along with various colleagues who contributed to Casino Royale .
