Frederick Onyancha ( Frederick Momanyi "Fred" Onyancha ; born December 25, 1969 in Nyamira , Nyanza Province ) is a former Kenyan middle-distance runner whose special course was the 800-meter run .

In 1995 he finished fourth at the Pan-African Games . In 1996 he won gold at the African Championships in Yaoundé . He celebrated the greatest success of his career shortly afterwards at the Olympic Games in Atlanta , when he won the bronze medal in a personal best of 1: 42.79 minutes behind the Norwegian Vebjørn Rodal and the South African Hezekiél Sepeng . With this time Onyancha took eighth place in the all-time world best list.

At the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville, he was eliminated in the preliminary run.

Frederick Onyancha is 1.70 m tall and weighed 64 kg when he was active.
