Freddy Sahin-Scholl (* 21st December 1953 in Heilbronn as Freddy Scholl ) is a German singer and composer . He is also known by the stage name Galileo .

Life

Freddy Sahin-Scholl is the son of a German mother and a US occupation soldier. He doesn't know his parents. With 13 other crew children he was raised in Wüstenrot by a foster mother who recognized and promoted his musical talent. Before devoting himself entirely to music, he worked as a nurse and anesthesiologist until 1993.

At the age of 40 he discovered his ability to sing a baritone as well as a countertenor and to be able to switch between these two voices within a piece . He did not receive any vocal training or singing training.

He became known after setting poems by Markus Lüpertz to music in 1997. He performed in concerts with Shirley Bassey for a UNESCO event and became an ambassador for the Special Olympics . In 1999 he set poems by Cae Gauntt to music and published his title Carpe Diem for the first time under his own label. In 2003 the album was re-released, produced by Edo Zanki and Florian Sitzmann . In the same year Sahin-Scholl appeared in the concert series The Nokia Night of the Proms in Germany.

Nationwide, he was known in 2010 for his appearances in the RTL telecast Got Talent . He won the final on December 18, 2010 with 22.84 percent of all caller votes. Even before his victory in the casting show, he submitted his application for the Austrian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf. There he did not make it into the ten finalists.

His victory in the RTL program Das Supertalent was followed by a legal dispute with an early retiree who had once persuaded Sahin-Scholl to participate in the competition and after his victory tried to claim a share in the proceeds.

Sahin-Scholl lives and works in Karlsruhe . There he met the Turkish-born Jasmin Sahin, 15 years his junior, in 2003/2004; he has had a double name since marrying her. His wife, who already ran an event and artist agency back then, is his manager.
