Marcel Kaupp (born April 25, 1988 in Miltenberg ) is a German singer . In 2014 he won the eighth season of Das Supertalent .

He is known as a drag artist under the stage name Marcella Rockefeller (formerly Marcella Rockafella ) .

Career

As the oldest of four brothers, Marcel Kaupp grew up in his place of birth, Miltenberg in Lower Franconia. In Bessenbach he trained as a hairdresser and later moved to Cologne. Kaupp made his first appearances as a travesty artist under his original artist name "Leonie Lickit".

In 2010 he appeared for the first time as Lady Gaga imitator with the song Poker Face on Das Supertalent . With two yes votes, he made it one round, but decided to drop out voluntarily. After his super talent performance, he changed his stage name to "Marcella Rockafella", under which he released the single Forbidden Games with producer Oliver deVille . Then he changed the spelling of his stage name to the one that has been used since then: "Marcella Rockefeller".

In 2014 Kaupp again took part in Das Supertalent . Under his drag queen character Marcella Rockefeller, he first appeared as a Conchita Wurst double and presented the jury with the Eurovision Song Contest title, Rise Like a Phoenix . The jury gave four yes votes. Since Dieter Bohlen expressed the wish to see him again as Marcel Kaupp on the show stage, he appeared again with an acoustic version of Titanium removed from the make- up.

In the finale, he first sang as Marcella Rockefeller One Moment in Time by Whitney Houston and finished the song as Marcel removing the fake eyelashes and wig. During the performance he wore a dress tailored by juror Guido Maria Kretschmer . Marcel Kaupp won the audience voting with 24.41 percent and won Das Supertalent 2014. He received a prize of 100,000 euros and a contract for a performance in Las Vegas.

In September 2015 he released his second single I Can Sleep When I'm Dead! .

As of 2019: Marcel Kaupp appears at many CSDs in Germany, Switzerland and Amsterdam and can often be found in the drag nightlife in Cologne. He also runs the make-up podcast with his colleague Laila Licious ! .

Since 2020 Kaupp has been under contract as Marcella Rockefeller with the management "PTO Media". His manager there is Prince Charming winner Lars Tönsfeuerborn .

On January 17th, 2020, Marcella Rockefeller released the single The Biggest Trick in collaboration with Rosenstolz band member and producer Peter Plate .
