Frederick Cooper

Frederick Cooper (born October 27, 1947 in New York City , USA) is an American historian whose fields of research are the history of Africa, colonization and decolonization .

Life

Cooper studied the labor movement of Africa at the beginning of his studies , but later focused on the field of colonialism . In 1974 he received his Ph.D. from Yale University to Ph. D. From 1982 to 2001 he taught at the University of Michigan . In 2001, Cooper was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences . He is currently (2017) a history professor at New York University .
