action

A few years have passed since Jesse rescued Orca Willy from the hands of the unscrupulous park owners. Jesse and his foster parents Annie and Glen want to go on vacation and u. a. visit her old friend Randolph, who is now exploring orcas with his goddaughter. The anticipation for the vacation is clouded by bad news: Jesse's mother, for whom he had always secretly waited longingly, has died and left him the 8-year-old Elvis. Jesse's half-brother turns out to be a notorious liar and Jesse doesn't get along with him at all at first. Elvis accompanies the three from now on, which Jesse is anything but happy.

But when they see his boyfriend again, Jesse has a nice surprise: Randolph has discovered Willy, who has found his family again. The whales are in a bay. Jesse is also fond of Randolph's lovely godchild Nadine. Jesse manages to impress her with his extraordinary friendship with Willy and the vacation turns out to be a complete success despite the annoying Elvis.

But then the film takes a dramatic turn when an oil tanker runs aground one night. Jesse and his friends try to save the whales trapped in the bay by the oil, but this turns out to be extremely difficult as they have to overcome many obstacles. When the oil that had leaked caught fire from an explosion on the tanker, the situation seemed hopeless ...

criticism

"'A staging and acting acceptable, but poor content-wise infusion of the successful film Free Willy - Ruf der Freiheit (1993) evoking the ideal of the family and the protection of nature'."

background

In this film, the Keiko whale has been replaced by an electronic whale in the majority of cases . The place where the film was shot is called Friday Harbor and is on San Juan Island on Juan de Fuca Street . However, it was important in the film that the name of the place was nowhere to be read (for example on signs) because no fan pilgrimage was to begin there.
