Franz Max Friedemann Steiger (born April 8, 1938 in Erfurt ) is a German Protestant pastor and writer . From 1964 to 2000 he was pastor of the St. Luke Church in Krippehna .

Life

Friedemann Steiger grew up in Gebesee in Thuringia as the eldest of four children of the evangelical pastor of Gebesee, Herbert Steiger, and his wife Annemarie Steiger (née Neubauer). He studied Protestant theology in West Berlin and Halle (Saale) . He then went to a vicariate in Mansfeld and completed the seminary in Wittenberg . From 1964 to 2000 Friedemann Steiger was pastor of several parishes in northern Saxony.

On February 5, 2005, the community of Schönwölkau honored Friedemann Steiger with honorary citizenship . He lives in Göritz .

Friedemann Steiger has published prose and poetry continuously since the end of his activity as a pastor . He is a member of the Free German Association of Authors - Landesverband Sachsen eV Friedemann Steiger is married to the Indologist Ilse Steiger, b. Gunzel. The couple lives in Göritz and has a son. Steiger is a brother of Anna-Maria Meussling as well as Martin Steiger and Georg Steiger; the four siblings are active in journalism.
