Friedrich Anton Georg Karl Freiherr von Bock and Hermsdorf (born January 21, 1798 in Frankfurt am Main , † October 23, 1866 in Wiesbaden ) was a Hessian-Nassau state official, envoy and chamberlain. He was president of the court marshal of the Duchy of Nassau and holder of high orders.

His parents were Friedrich Karl Freiherr von Bock and Hermsdorf (born October 18, 1762 in Mannheim ; † July 13, 1834 in Wiesbaden ), Legation Councilor, envoy, married since May 8, 1797 in Frankfurt am Main to Henriette Caroline Anna Sibylla Freiin von Holzhausen (born November 7, 1773 in Frankfurt am Main; † August 17, 1834 in Seligenstadt), daughter of Carl Justinian Freiherr von Holzhausen (1750–1793) and Marie Sophie Friederike von Holzhausen (1748–1796).

Life

He studied at the Drei 30sacker Forest Academy, which was founded in 1801 by the famous forest scientist and ornithologist Johann Matthäus Bechstein in Drei 30sacker Castle , a district of the southern Thuringian district town of Meiningen, as a school for forestry and hunting. In 1815 he interrupted his studies and was a duke-Nassau lieutenant in the 2nd regiment in the campaign in the Netherlands and a participant in the battle of Waterloo . This although the Duchy of Hessen-Nassau was only founded under pressure and with the consent of Napoleon. Before the recognizable fall of Napoleon, however, the principality left the Confederation of the Rhine, changed fronts and became an enemy of the war. In the early afternoon, the regiments under Marshal Ney advanced on Quatre Bras and the Nassauer quickly retreated to their starting position. After the victory over Napoleon, he resumed his studies in Marburg. In 1816 he was accepted into the Nassau civil service. First he became hunting squire in the Nassau forest service in 1816, chamberlain in 1817, domain accessist in Wiesbaden in 1819, then forest assessor at the general domain management, in 1824 chief forester in Oestrich , in 1829 chief forest officer in Hachenburg , where his first daughter Charlotte was born in 1831. In 1833 he was chamberlain, 1835-1843 general director of the domain management. In 1839 Duke Wilhelm von Hessen-Nassau died , whereupon his 22-year-old son Adolph took over the rule. The career also continued under the new duke. From 1842 Friedrich Anton Georg Karl Freiherr von Bock and Hermsdorf became head of the ministerial affairs for external affairs for the Duke of Nassau Princely House, 1843–1848 he was Privy Councilor and President of the General Domain Directorate, from 1845 also Obersthofmeister, 1845–1847 envoy at the Bavarian Court in Munich for the Duchy of Nassau, Lord Chamberlain in 1847, Real Privy Councilor and President of the Court Marshal of the Duke of Nassau Princely House in Wiesbaden. In 1866 the Principality of Hesse-Nassau was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia. Two months after the takeover, he died on October 23, 1866 in Wiesbaden at the age of 68.

Marriage and offspring

At the age of 29, Friedrich von Bock and Hermsdorf married 21-year-old Juliane Freiin von Nordeck zur Rabenau on January 21, 1827 in Seligenstadt (born December 9, 1806 at the Appenborn estate; † January 18, 1888 in Clarens near Montreux on Lake Geneva) , Daughter of Gottlieb Freiherr von Nordeck zur Rabenau and Charlotte Freiin von Zwierlein. She was a widow for 22 years and died near the burial site of her youngest daughter, who died in Geneva in 1874. The couple had four daughters.

  • Daughter Charlotte Henriette Sophie Eleonore Luise Mathilde Freiin von Bock and Hermsdorf (born January 18, 1831 in Hachenburg ; † September 30, 1908 in Frankfurt am Main), married the 28-year-old Philipp Freiherr on June 6, 1854 in Biebrich at the age of 23 von Malapert called von Neufville, (born April 4, 1826 in Wiesbaden, † November 7, 1908 in Frankfurt am Main), Grand Ducal Luxembourg Chamberlain, Royal Prussian major, legal knight of the Order of St. John, member of the House of Frauenstein. His parents were Karl Freiherr von Malapert called von Neufville, Ducal Nassau Chamberlain and Major and Christiane von Heyden.
    • Grandson Fritz Freiherr von Malapert-Neufville (* March 22, 1855, † 1932?), Corvette Captain, married at the age of 47 on May 22, 1902 at Angelroda Castle (in Angelroda , Ilm-Kreis, Thuringia) of his in-laws, the 26- year old Luise von Witzleben (born January 26, 1876 in Arlesberg (Geratal) ) from the Thuringian nobility. Her ancestor Johannes Georg von Witzleben (1677–1743) had received the castle and the Angelroda manor as sole owner as a chamberlain and travel marshal of the Prince of Schwarzburg, thus establishing the Angelrodaer line of the family. In 1947 the Angelroda mansion was demolished.
