On September 12, 1956 (two weeks before the premiere of the film Die Halbstarken ), UKW-West broadcast its play Jugend in Not - An attempt at a sociology of juvenile delinquency , which had a very moderating effect and a balance with or at least an understanding of the movement of rebellious youth aspired to. It was reasonably balanced, on the one hand it pointed to the problems society had with the youngsters and on the other hand it took the burden of the main guilt off the youngsters. In the same week, the same station broadcast its so-called audio image The party is always right , in which Berghoff analyzed the ideological upbringing of the socialist youth in the GDR using the former state publisher for music literature, Lied der Zeit . Both radio plays received positive reviews.

Proven in December 1965 Berghoff worked as a consultant for public relations at the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution . In 1968 he realized the film project Runge Report - A former high-ranking Soviet secret service officer reports for the Federal Government's Press and Information Office .

In later years he wrote books mainly dealing with espionage, constitutional protection issues, Cold War issues, and Catholic theology.
