Friedrich Georg Ludwig von Grolman

Friedrich Georg Ludwig von Grolman (born January 1, 1726 in Magdeburg , † August 11, 1789 in Köslin ) was a Prussian colonel , commander of the Billerbeck infantry regiment and a knight of the Pour le Mérite order .

Life

He was the son of Georg Arnold von Grolman and his wife Johanna Gottvertrau, née von Eckart.

In 1740 Grolman joined the "Kenitz" fusilier regiment and took part in all of Frederick II's wars . He fought near Prague , Kolin , Leuthen , Liegnitz , Reichenberg , Hochkirch and the siege of Cosel, Prague, Olmütz , Breslau and Schweidnitz . He also took part in the battles of Basdorf, Hohengiersdorf and Kolberg.

On January 5, 1772 he became a major and in 1773 was commander of a grenadier regiment, which was composed of two grenadier companies No. 39 and No. 24 each . With the regiment he took part in the Bavarian Succession War as part of Prince Heinrich's army . In 1781 he was transferred to the “Billerbeck” infantry regiment and promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 5, 1781. On March 29, 1783 he was promoted to colonel and received the order Pour le Mérite.

Grolman married Sophie Maximiliane von Schickfus (born March 19, 1736) from Silesia. The couple had two sons and five daughters:
