Friedrich Moser (architect, 1926)

Friedrich Moser (born September 2, 1926 in Spittal an der Drau ) is an Austrian architect , urban planner , painter and university professor . He was rector of the Vienna University of Technology .

Friedrich Moser studied architecture at the Graz University of Technology , in 1968 he did his doctorate at the Vienna University of Technology with a dissertation on the subject of school location and urban planning: shown using the example of Graz .

After completing his studies, he worked for the Thonet company and later for the city of Graz as head of the urban planning department. In 1974 he was appointed full professor for spatial planning and urban design at the Technical University of Vienna. In the academic years 1981/82 to 1984/85 he was dean of the faculty for architecture and spatial planning at the TU Vienna, in 1989/90 and 1990/91 he was rector of the Technical University . During his term of office, the Technology Studies Act 1990 was passed.

Moser is a member of the Steiermärkischer Kunstverein Werkbund and has been its vice-president since 1999.

The Department of Spatial Planning at the Vienna University of Technology has been awarding the Friedrich Moser Prize for Local Spatial Planning and Urban Design since 2006 .

As an architect, he designed and implemented church buildings in Styria, such as the parish churches in Wagna and Lieboch . As an artist he worked, among other things, on watercolors and oil paintings, which he presented in solo and group exhibitions from 1971.
