Friedrich Odenbach

Friedrich Odenbach (born January 13, 1945 in Bamberg ) is a German politician and former member of the state parliament of the SPD in Bavaria .

Odenbach grew up as one of six children of a working class family in Bamberg, where he in 1964 graduated from the secondary school made, today's Clavius-Gymnasium . He studied teaching for elementary schools in Erlangen , Würzburg and Bamberg and worked as an elementary school teacher from 1968. From 1975 to 1989 he was the rector of the seminar , from 1989 he was a school administrator, initially in Coburg , and from 1993 in Bamberg. Until the beginning of 2010 he was director of the education authority.

In 1973 Odenbach joined the SPD , for which he sat on the Bischberg municipal council from 1984 to 1996 . From 1996 to 2008 he was a member of the Bamberg district council . In the state elections in Bavaria in 1994 , he ran for the SPD, but only managed to take the first place. When Bernd Hering , district administrator in Hof (Saale) since May 1 , resigned from the state parliament on July 11, 1996, Odenbach replaced him. In the state elections in 1998 he was defeated in the constituency of Bamberg-Land by Heinrich Rudrof from the CSU. However , he received enough second votes via the list of the constituency of Upper Franconia to be re-elected together with his first vote result . For the 2002 Bundestag election he ran as a direct applicant in the Bundestag constituency of Bamberg , but received only 25% of the votes. In the 2003 state elections, Odenbach was again defeated by Heinrich Rudrof from the CSU with 13.8%.

In the state parliament, Odenbach was a member of the committee for public service issues and the committee for universities, research and culture.

Odenbach is married and has two children.
