Friedrich Wilhelm Eugen Bock

Friedrich Wilhelm Eugen Bock (born June 18, 1816 in Weißensee ; † January 21, 1888 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and inspector of the 2nd fortress inspection.

His parents were the government chief treasurer and his wife was born Thomas.

Military career

After attending the model school and grammar school in Erfurt, Bock joined the 4th Pioneer Department of the Prussian Army as a volunteer on July 10, 1834 . For further training he graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School from October 1835 to September 1839 and at the beginning of October 1837 became an aggregated second lieutenant in the 3rd engineer inspection. However, he returned to the 4th pioneer department on October 1, 1838. On September 10th, 1840, he was appointed adjutant of this department and on December 30th, 1841, he was transferred to the 3rd Engineering Inspectorate with the 4th Pioneer Department. But on November 16, 1845 he came to fortification work in the fortress of Minden . Promoted to Prime Lieutenant on March 27, 1849 , from May 29 to July 19, 1849 he was posted to the Reich Corps in Baden . During the Baden Revolution he fought in the skirmishes near Großsachsen, Hirschhorn, Sinsheim , Gernsheim and Oos. On August 9, 1849, he was assigned to services in the 1st Engineer Inspection and aggregated to the 3rd Engineer Inspection. On December 20, 1851, he was transferred to the 1st engineer inspection and promoted to captain on June 22, 1852. On October 6, 1854, he came to the 3rd engineer inspection and was commander of the 1st company of the 7th engineer division. On September 28, 1856, he was sent to the second engineer inspection and was assigned to the fortification service in the Magdeburg fortress . On August 3, 1858 he was appointed commander of the 8th pioneer division. From July 1, 1860, he was employed as an engineer officer from the square in the Torgau Fortress and on May 7, 1861 he rose to major. He was transferred to Danzig on January 13, 1866 as an engineer officer. There he became lieutenant colonel on June 8, 1866. On October 17, 1857, Bock was appointed inspector of the 2nd fortress inspection. In addition, on December 2, 1867, he became a member of the examination committee for captains and prime lieutenants of the engineering corps. He was promoted to colonel on March 22, 1868. On January 23, 1870 he was awarded the Crown Order III. Class and on January 21, 1872 with the Order of the Red Eagle III. Excellent with a bow. He received on 22 March 1873 character as a major general and was on 12 April 1873 board for disposition made.

He died on January 21, 1888 in Berlin and was buried on January 24, 1888 in the Dreifaltigskeitsfriedhof .

Bock married on August 7, 1854 in Berlin Johanna Marie Emilie Schaeffer (1831-1915), a daughter of the privateer Johann Gottfried Schaeffer. The couple had a son and a daughter.
