Friedrich Wilhelm Ferdinand of Werder

Friedrich Wilhelm Ferdinand von Werder (born December 29, 1786 in Magdeburg , † November 4, 1854 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and most recently in command of Stralsund . He was also the heir to Parchau and Ziegelsdorf ( Jerichow I district ).

Life

origin

His parents were Major General Friedrich Wilhelm von Werder (1747-1820) and his first wife Auguste Luise Wilhelmine von Wulffen (1759-1800). Lieutenant General Ferdinand Wilhelm Wiko was his brother.

Career

He joined Infantry Regiment No. 20 as a private corporal in 1799 . There he became Portepeefähnrich in 1802 and on November 29, 1803 a real ensign . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Auerstedt and was made inactive after the surrender of Magdeburg.

After the Peace of Tilsit he was aggregated on November 4, 1809 as a second lieutenant in the 4th East Prussian Infantry Regiment . There he was classified on January 10, 1811 and his patent backdated to January 22, 1807. On February 4, 1813, he came to General von Thümen as adjutant . There he became Premier-Lieutenant on June 30, 1813 , and Chief of Staff on December 1, 1813, thus taking part in the Wars of Liberation . He fought in the sieges of Spandau, Wittenberg and Soissons , as well as the Battle of Laon - where he received the Iron Cross 2nd Class - and the storming of Arnhem. He was also at the capture of La Fere, the battles at Luckau , Trebbin Wittenberg, Coswig and Wesel. In the battle near Düren he earned the Russian Order of St. Vladimir 2nd class . On March 31, 1815 he became captain and adjutant of the Thümen brigade, but on May 28, 1815 he was transferred as an adjutant to the General Command in Posen.

In Posen he became major on March 30, 1817, with a patent on April 3, 1817. On January 18, 1824, he received the Prussian Order of St. John and on March 30, 1827, he was commander of the 1st Battalion of the 18th Landwehr Regiment. On December 14, 1828, he joined the 24th Infantry Regiment as a battalion commander. There he became a lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1834 , with a patent on April 2, 1834, and on January 18, 1835 he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 4th class . On March 30, 1836, he was transferred to the 20th Infantry Regiment as interim commander and at the same time promoted to colonel . On January 14, 1837 he was confirmed as commander, on August 14, 1837 he was also President of the Examination Commission for Portepeef Ensigns and director of the division school of the 6th Division. On September 10, 1837, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class with ribbon , before being transferred to the 13th Infantry Brigade as commander on March 25, 1841. There he was appointed major general on April 7, 1842 and on September 12, 1842 he was also awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves . On 27 March 1847 he was transferred as commander to Stralsund before its on April 10, 1849 Farewell to the character received as lieutenant general and statutory board. He died on November 4, 1854 in Brandenburg an der Havel.

He married Friederike Luise Moers on January 16, 1815 in Potsdam (* December 9, 1786; † September 9, 1854). The couple had several children:
