Friedrich Wilhelm von Werder (born August 26, 1747 on Kade ; † November 24, 1820 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general and high court marshal to the Prince of Koethen .

Life

origin

His parents were Markwart Ludwig von Werder (* April 4, 1716; † June 22, 1788) and his wife Dorothea Luise, née Metzing († May 7, 1758), a daughter of the mayor of Schwedt / Oder Heinrich Metzing. His father was a Prussian captain of the Landmilitz as well as Herr auf Kade, Brettin and Groß- and Klein- Wusterwitz near Genthin. His brother Johann Karl von Werder (1751–1808) was the Prussian customs director.

Military career

Werder came on January 14, 1761 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "Alt-Braunschweig" of the Prussian Army . He still took part in the Seven Years' War and was promoted to Second Lieutenant by May 7, 1766 . On July 16, 1773 he came as an adjutant in the grenadier regiment 5/20 (Kamecke) that the regiment "von Saldern" and "Jung-Stutterheim" was formed from the grenadier companies . There Werder rose to Prime Lieutenant on September 6, 1774 and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On October 17, 1785 he was staff captain and on July 29, 1787 captain and company commander in the infantry regiment "von Lengefeld". After he was promoted to major on December 31, 1793, Werder fought during the First Coalition War in the blockade of Landau , the battles at Vicognes, Valenciennes, Famars, Trippstadt, Saarbrücken , St. Ingbert and the battle of Kaiserslautern . On June 1, 1799 he came back as a commander in the grenadier battalion 5/20. On 20 May 1803 he was charged with patent of 12 June 1803 Lieutenant Colonel and on May 20, 1805 Patent of 11 June 1805 Colonel promoted. In the run-up to the Fourth Coalition War , Werder was appointed commander of the "von Larisch" infantry regiment on September 22, 1806 .

After the lost war , Werder was put on half pay on August 17, 1807 . In response to his inquiry, he received the information on July 26, 1809 that re-employment was currently not possible. Therefore, on July 13, 1810, he received approval to go to the Prince of Koethen as Oberhofmarschall. But on January 14, 1811, he celebrated even its 50th anniversary of service before its on February 1, 1814 farewell with pension received. On April 13, 1817 he was then awarded the character of major general. He was the heir to Kade, Belicke, Parchau and Ziegelsdorf.

Werder married Auguste Luise Wilhelmine von Wulffen (* January 10, 1759 - December 4, 1800) from the House of Pietzpuhl in Magdeburg on January 1, 1781 . The couple had several children:

  • Ludwig Werner Friedrich (* December 9, 1781; † October 14, 1806), died near Auerstedt as a lieutenant in the "von Kleist" infantry regiment
  • Karl Wilhelm (December 5, 1782; † 1783)
  • Ferdinand Wilhelm Wiko (1785–1861), Prussian lieutenant general

After the death of his first wife, on October 14, 1801, he married Marianne Elisabeth Barth (* May 20, 1777 - June 18, 1865), a daughter of the late Professor Barth (also: Bahrdt). The couple had several children:
