Friedrich Winter (born February 5, 1853 in Gehringhausen , † February 26, 1913 in Wanne ) was a German administrative officer and from January 1, 1887 to February 26, 1913 bailiff of the Wanne office in the Gelsenkirchen-Land district .

Life

After attending grammar school in Bielefeld , about 25 km south of his hometown , Friedrich Winter entered the Prussian administrative service in the early 1870s . In 1875/1876 he did his military service as a one-year volunteer with the cuirassiers in Münster . Then worked at the district office in Bielefeld, Winter changed to the royal government in Arnsberg in 1879/1880 and from there to Eslohe in the Sauerland from 1881 to 1886 , where he initially served as a provisional and finally permanent bailiff. On January 1, 1887, Winter took over the management of the Wanne office, which at that time housed 9,407 residents.

During his tenure in Wanne, which lasted until 1913, Winter died in service, the population grew to 56,875 as a result of heavy industrialization and the accompanying influx of foreigners. The increasing municipal income and the growing importance of the municipality made the expansion of the infrastructure possible. After the main town of Bickern was renamed to Wanne by the highest decree in 1897, the 21- acre Kaisergarten, today's Stadtgarten with the Dreikaiserdenkmal erected between 1898 and 1901 , was constructed in 1899/1900  . From 1903 to 1905 it was possible to build a new office building , in which Winter also moved into an apartment and in 1907/08 the construction of what would later become the girls' grammar school in Stöckstraße, the first independent secondary school for girls in Wanne.

In addition to his official work, Friedrich Winter was, among other things, a member of the board of directors of the prison welfare association as well as the founder, chairman and honorary warden of the Wanner local group of the German Fleet Association .

On January 1, 1912, for the 25th anniversary of the service, the community awarded Wanne Friedrich Winter an honorary citizen , a few days later the formal name of a street after him, the “Winterstraße”. At the request of the Lord Mayor of Wanne-Eickel, Winterstrasse was renamed to Amtmann-Winter-Strasse with an announcement on April 27, 1933. ( Location ) The street leading from the main street in the direction of the main station is only built on on the north side, at the beginning with the Sparkasse Wanne-Eickel and then with the so-called Red Block .
