Frederic "Hans" von Rosenberg (born December 26, 1874 in Berlin ; † July 30, 1937 in Fürstenzell ) was a German diplomat and politician. From 1922 to 1923 he was Reich Foreign Minister under Reich Chancellor Wilhelm Cuno .

Life

Rosenberg was a son of Major General Johann von Rosenberg (1844–1913). He attended the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Gymnasium in Berlin, the city school in Wismar, the Grand Ducal Gymnasium in Neustrelitz and the Wilhelms-Gymnasium in Königsberg. After graduating from high school, he studied law and camera science in Bonn , Geneva and Berlin . In Bonn he became a member of the Corps Borussia . He later worked as a diplomat in Antwerp and Berlin. He was a member of the German delegation and co-signer of the Brest-Litovsk Peace Treaty . From 1918 to 1919 he headed the political department in the Foreign Office , was German envoy in Vienna from 1920 to 1921 and German envoy in Copenhagen from 1921 to 1922 .

On November 22, 1922 he was appointed Reich Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Cuno Reich Government. In a speech to the Reichstag he signaled on April 16, 1923, the German willingness to resume because of the occupation of the Ruhr set reparations .

With the resignation of the Reich Cabinet, he resigned from the Reich government in August 1923 and became envoy in Stockholm in 1924 . From 1933 to 1935 he was ambassador to Ankara .

He married Marie Luise Henriette Theremin (* 1880, † 1958) in Kassel on November 5, 1900 , a daughter of Lieutenant General Charles Philipp Theremin . The couple had one son and four daughters.
