history

Friedrichsort

The Friedrichsort drove from 1981 to the end of 1991 on the Kiel Fjord for the Kieler Verkehrs-AG. In January 1992 it was sold and renamed Mönchgut . After the sale, the Mönchgut was used for excursions from Greifswald - Wieck to Lubmin , Göhren and Gager . In 2000 it was renamed Friedrichsort again. In 2003, the company was taken over by the shipping company Sven Paulsen for his shipping company Adler-Schiff and renamed Adler-Mönchgut to use it between Peenemünde and the island of Rügen (Göhren, Sellin and Binz ).

Heikendorf, Laboe and Strande

These three ships are still in service today for Schlepp- und Fährgesellschaft Kiel mbH, which was outsourced from Kieler Verkehrs-AG in 1996.

Successor ships

The ships of the series that are still in use for the SFK are to be successively replaced by newbuildings together with the smaller Schilksee , as the ships that are over 35 years old are technologically obsolete. To this end, the towing and ferry company Kiel ordered a hybrid-electric powered ferry from the Hollands Shipyards in Hardinxveld-Giessendam near Rotterdam in November 2018 and agreed options for three other ferries of the type. The electricity is supplied by either two generators or batteries. The costs per new building are given as around 3.9 million euros.

The first new ferry was delivered in July 2020 and put into service as Gaarden .

The following ships Friedrichsort , Wik and Schilksee , for which options were initially agreed, are scheduled for delivery in 2022, 2024 and 2026.
