Frielas is a Portuguese parish ( freguesia ) in the Loures district . The community is 5.6 km² and has 2166 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

history

After D.Afonso III. Having stayed here frequently in the 13th century, his son, King Dinis , built an estate here and also spent some time in Frielas.

In 2012 Frielas celebrated its 485th anniversary.

Culture and sights

Among the eight listed buildings and places of the municipality is u. a. a Roman archaeological site, the ruins of the royal estate Paço Real de Frielas , built in 1309 , and a Manueline limestone cross.

The community's new social center, which was built in 2009 for one million euros, houses u. a. a nursing home and facilities for youth work.

economy

A number of companies u. a. the construction industry, metal and wood processing, and the food industry are located here. The trade is also important here, so one of the two IKEA branches in the greater Lisbon area can be found here.
