course
The Friesenbach rises in open fields southwest of Theuma at 450 m above sea level. NHN and is dammed up to a small pond directly at the source. From there it flows straight, but lined with trees and meadows, initially in a westerly direction. At a length of 600 meters, the stream forms the border between Theuma and the village of Schloditz, which is part of the Tirpersdorf community . Shortly afterwards, the brook passes the city limits of Plauen and does not leave Plauen until its mouth. In the urban area, the stream can mainly flow in its natural bed, meanders freely over meadows and is flanked by individual trees, sometimes also by forest and rarely by houses.
At the Ferbigmühle, the Friesenbach picks up the Ferbigbach coming from the south and flows further north. The A 72 motorway was built parallel to the Ferbigbach in the 1930s, taking advantage of the smaller gradient caused by the creek . It now accompanies the Friesenbach over a length of 2.5 kilometers until it crosses it with the 200 meter long Friesenbachtal bridge at the level of the Plauen district of Sorga. Previously, the stream has the of the districts Oberlosa and stöckigt coming Stöckigtbach and from the direction of the local part Großfriesen coming Kaltenbach added. Shortly afterwards, the Friesenbach feeds the Kleinfriesen gondola pond , which it does not flow through directly. Also in Kleinfriesen there is an existing viaduct of the dismantled railway line Plauen – Bergen – Falkenstein / Vogtl. the valley. The rank mill next to it was in operation until 1980.
When the Friesenbach crosses under the B 173 motorway slip road , the Friesenbach enters the Lower Friesenbachtal landscape protection area, a scenic recreation area especially for the residents of the nearby Chrieschwitzer Hang prefabricated housing estate in Plauen . When entering the district (Alt-) Chrieschwitz , the Friesenbach leaves the LSG, flows through Chrieschwitz and flows out at an altitude of 322 m above sea level. NHN in the White Elster. In the estuary area, the Friesenbach is integrated into the flood protection system of the White Elster and provided with dams.
