Fritz Bokelmann

Fritz Bokelmann (born January 8, 1940 in Bremen ) is a German bank manager . He was chairman of the association and board of directors of the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks (BVR).

Life

Fritz Bokelmann spent his early childhood in his native Bremen. In 1946 the family moved to the Bremen area, to the village of Heißenbüttel in the Osterholz district of Lower Saxony (now a district of Hambergen , which in turn has been part of the Hambergen municipality since 1974 ). He did his school education in the district town of Osterholz-Scharmbeck , then completed a banking apprenticeship in Bremen and then did his basic military service .

He then worked for several years at the savings and loan association Hellingst as managing director. In 1967 he moved to the board of directors of Spar- und Leihkasse Osterholz-Scharmbeck , which later became Volksbank Osterholz-Scharmbeck . In 1972 Bokelmann became chairman of the board and headed Osterholz-Scharmbecker Volksbank until the end of 2007 when he retired. From 2002 to the end of 2006 he was also chairman of the board of the then Genossenschaftsverband Norddeutschland e. V. , whose seat was or is in Hanover and which later became part of the Genossenschaftsverband e. V. rose.

In addition, Bokelmann was involved in the banking association of German Volksbanks, the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks (BVR). In 1990 he became a full member of the BVR Association Council and in 1999 a member of the Board of Directors. In 2002 he was elected Chairman of the BVR Association Council with effect from January 1, 2003, as the successor to Rainer Märklin. In this function, Bokelmann was, among other things, significantly involved in the establishment of the vocational academy for banking in Hanover and the Bank-Colleg , a funding institution for the cooperative banks for young bankers. He was also a deputy chairman of the board of directors of the Academy of German Cooperatives (ADG) in Montabaur . Bokelmann was chairman of the association and administrative board of the BVR until the end of 2007; Carsten Graaf was his successor.

At the same time, Bokelmann was chairman of the restructuring advisory board of Osterholz-Scharmbeck and co-founder and deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the Städtische Entwicklungsgesellschaft (STEG) , which was set up for the urban development of the district town and which, among other things, played a key role in the future of the local vehicle construction company FAUN Umwelttechnik through relocation made a decisive contribution from the core town to the village of Heilshorn , which belongs to Osterholz-Scharmbeck . In addition, he volunteered and is involved, especially in the social area, such as the Diakonieverein Seniorenzentrum Osterholz-Scharmbeck e., Which he co-founded in 1980 . V. and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Diakonisches Werk . Bokelmann is chairman of the board of the "Inge-Küster-Stiftung" founded in 1996 in Worpswede , which promotes female youth sport. In addition, the "Inge Küster Foundation" fulfills the entrepreneurial legacy of Inge Küster, the entrepreneur who died in 2011 and owner of the Meyerhoff furniture store in Osterholz-Scharmbeck. In particular, the foundation promotes the further development and continued existence of the company, which now has additional locations in Bremen, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde and Stuhr and employs around 250 people.

Fritz Bokelmann is married and lives with his wife in Hellingst in the municipality of Hambergen. The couple have two children.
