The combined municipality of Hambergen on the northern edge of the Osterholz district extends over an area of 135 km² and is therefore the second largest municipality in the Osterholz district in terms of area.
The integrated community was formed in the course of the regional reform in 1974 from the communities of Axstedt , Hambergen , Holste , Lübberstedt and Vollersode and named after the most populous community. To strengthen the administrative power, these communities transferred some of their tasks to the joint community.
geography
The combined municipality of Hambergen is located in the north German lowlands about 35 kilometers north-northeast of Bremen . There is a transport connection to the Bremen – Bremerhaven train connection (Oldenbüttel and Lübberstedt stations) and to the federal motorway 27 ( Walsrode - Cuxhaven ). The main traffic axis is the federal highway 74 Bremen- Stade . In the member community Vollersode , the Giehler Bach , which rises in the Lange Heide north of Osterholz-Scharmbeck , becomes the Hamme , which connects the Weser and Elbe via the Oste-Hamme Canal . Part of the municipality belongs to the Teufelsmoor .

Joint mayor of the municipality
Mayor of the municipality is Reinhard Kock (SPD). He was elected in the 2014 mayoral election with 59.4% of the valid votes. Heike Prigge from the CDU received 40.6% of the vote. The turnout was 43.5%.

Justification for the coat of arms: The silver shield shows a green three-mountain, it is borrowed from the coat of arms of the municipality of Hambergen. Above it, the five red diamonds symbolize the member communities of Axstedt, Hambergen, Holste, Lübberstedt and Vollersode. The silver wavy strip is reminiscent of the source area of the Hamme. |
