Fritz Grütter

Fritz Grütter (born September 2, 1901 in Roggwil ; † May 29, 1984 in Berne ; resident in Roggwil) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Grütter attended primary school in Roggwil and graduated from the Hofwil teacher training college . He first worked as a teacher in Rohrbach and from 1930 to 1955 as a teacher in Bern.

In 1922 Grütter joined the SP, for which he sat on the Rohrbach municipal council in 1926 . From 1934 to 1951 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern , and from 1940 to 1947 of the Bern City Council . From 1955 to 1967 Grütter was municipal councilor of the city of Bern and initially headed the finance department, after the resignation of Fritz Schmidlin in 1962, the management of industrial companies. In parallel, Grütter was a member of the National Council from 1947 to 1971 .

Grütter presided over the SP of the Canton of Bern from 1947 to 1962 . From 1952 to 1957 he was President of the Social Democratic Group in the Federal Assembly . From 1962 to 1970 he finally presided over the SP Switzerland.
