The fox bar is 501 m above sea level. A. high hill in the Austrian state of Styria . The inconspicuous elevation is located on the Ries in the east of the provincial capital Graz .
Location and surroundings
The Fuchsriegel is located in the geographical center of the Ries district, in the immediate vicinity of Gleisdorfer Strasse (B 65) . It protrudes as a small knoll from the Riedel with the place name Auf der Ries , which accompanies the Stiftingtal in the southeast. It is separated from the Schweinberg by a side ditch in the densely populated Ragnitztal . The Hochfeldweg, which connects the B 65 with the Ragnitzstrasse, runs over the gentle southern slope of the Fuchsriegel, which is characterized by grassland . The privately owned and therefore not accessible Fuchsriegel is part of the landscape protection area Northern and Eastern Hügelland of Graz (LSG-30).
Geology and geomorphology
The fox bar is an inconspicuous lawn knoll made of Miocene sands and clays , which typically fill a large part of the Styrian basin . In the area of the elevation, remnants of the gravel / sand alternation can be found. The entire south and east side of the hill is part of a torrent catchment area .
