The Hong Kong national futsal team is a representative sample of futsal players from the Hong Kong SAR . The team represents the Hong Kong Football Association in international matches.
Performing in tournaments
Hong Kong hosted the second Futsal World Cup under the auspices of FIFA in 1992, although the sport was virtually unknown in Hong Kong up until then. After narrow defeats against Argentina and Poland and a 4-1 win over Nigeria, the tournament for the host team was over after the preliminary round. Since then they have taken part in the World Cup qualification irregularly, in 1996 and 2004 they failed in the qualification, in 2000 and 2008 there was no registration.
The team first took part in an Asian championship in 2003, since then it has been enough to take part in a total of five finals, each of which ended after the preliminary round.
