Geraldine Marchand Balet (* 18th January 1971 in Sion ; heimatberechtigt in Grimisuat ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ) and Municipal President of Grimisuat ( VS ).

Life

Marchand-Balet was a nurse at the Sitten hospital and later trained as a business administrator . In 2000 she became the head of the University of Applied Sciences Management project at the Wallis University of Applied Sciences (HES-SO Wallis).

From 2001 to 2004 she was a councilor of Grimisuat, in 2005 she took over the office of vice-mayor and four years later that of the mayor. In 2013 she was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Valais , where she sat on the finance committee. She resigned from the cantonal parliament after being elected to the National Council in the 2015 Swiss parliamentary elections , where she is a member of the Commission for Science, Education and Culture.

Marchand-Balet is married and has two grown children.
