Yannick Buttet (born July 12, 1977 in Monthey ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

Life

Buttet grew up in Valais and studied political science at the University of Lausanne . He is married with two children and lives in Collombey-Muraz . He is an officer in the Swiss Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel .

In May 2018 Buttet was elected president of the BBC Monthey basketball club .

politics

Buttet was president of the JCVP of the Monthey district from 2002 to 2005, president of the JCVP Valais romand from 2005 to 2009 and vice-president of the CVP Valais romand from 2008 to 2012. In January 2009 Buttet was in the council elected by Collombey-Muraz, since 2013 he is mayor .

On 23 October 2011 Buttet made the jump to the National Council . He put his political focus on regional, social, transport and family policy. He is also involved in youth policy . During the 50th legislature , Buttet was a member of the Legislative Commission for Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy of the National Council (UREK-N) and the editorial commission . On December 17, 2017, he resigned under pressure of allegations of stalking and sexual harassment . He resumed his office as Mayor of Collombey-Muraz in March 2018.

In November 2017, he resigned as Vice President of the Swiss Officers' Association and CVP Switzerland, and the public prosecutor of the canton of Valais opened criminal proceedings on suspicion of coercion . In 2018 he was sentenced to a fine of 30 daily rates of 220 francs for coercion of his ex-girlfriend and unlawful appropriation.

In the summer of 2020, a politician raised allegations against Buttet that he had verbally and physically molested her. The CVP announced that Buttet will not be on the CVP list in next fall's municipal elections. Buttet then announced that he would not run again as mayor of Collombey-Muraz in the autumn.
