Jean-Luc Addor (born April 22, 1964 in Lausanne ; resident in Sainte-Croix VD and Savièse ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ). He has been a member of the National Council since November 2015 .

biography

Jean-Luc Addor in 1986 to study law at the University of Lausanne concluded. In 1991 he was admitted to the bar of the Canton of Valais . From 1989 to 1991 he was a clerk at the District Court of Entremont . He then was an examining magistrate for the Valais central region until 2001 . He has been working as a lawyer since 2001.

Addor is married with two children and lives in Savièse.

politics

From 2005 to 2015 Addor was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Valais . He was also a councilor in Savièse from 2009 to 2015 . In the 2015 parliamentary elections he was elected to the National Council, where he has been a member of the State Political Commission ever since. He is also Vice President of the SVP Lower Valais section and a member of the SVP Switzerland party executive.

Addor caused a stir in September 2013 when he called for the reinstatement of the death penalty on Facebook . His political focus is on advocating a liberal gun law . Together with Josef Dittli, he is co-president of the parliamentary group for a liberal weapons law and president ad interim of the Pro Tell association , which is committed to liberal weapons legislation. In 2017 Addor hit the headlines when he tabled a parliamentary initiative aiming at the right to public arms.

Addor was sentenced to a conditional fine and fine for violating the Racism Penal Code in 2017 . He appealed against the judgment calling one, in the appeal process, the District Court sentenced him in April 2020 because of racial discrimination to a fine of 60 daily rates of 300 francs with two years of probation. Addor announced that it would appeal.
