Beat Rieder (born February 12, 1963 in Wiler , entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ) who has been a member of the Council of States since 2015 .

Life

Rieder works as a lawyer and notary in a law firm in Brig that he also runs . He was a councilor in the canton of Valais , parliamentary group president of the CVP Oberwallis and valley council president Lötschental . In 2015 he successfully ran for the Council of States at CVP Oberwallis . He was re-elected in 2019 . At the end of January 2020 he was elected to the Board of Directors of Grimselbahn AG.

Rieder lives in Wiler . He is married and has three children.

Within his party, he speaks out against the opening of marriage to homosexual couples in Switzerland.

He is the President of the Legal Commission of the Council of States (RK-S).
