Gérard Janvion (born August 21, 1953 in Fort-de-France / Martinique ) is a former French football player .

The club career

Gérard Janvion first played with CS Case-Pilote on the Caribbean island of Martinique, a French overseas department , as a center forward before he was committed in 1972 at the age of eighteen by AS Saint-Étienne . Already in the 1973/74 season he was involved in the doublé of the club, usually known as les Verts (dt. The Greens ) or ASSE in France , and although he had only played a quarter of the point games in Division 1 , he was in the storm row of the Final team that won the national cup . A year later, Saint-Étienne repeated this "double blow" under his young coach Robert Herbin , and Janvion was now part of the regular formation - albeit now as a right full-back . In 1976 he won his third league title with the Verts , the third national cup in 1977, and this time he was used in the final as a midfielder . In addition to his basic speed, it was this versatility that made him an important figure in an eleven that had well-known players in their ranks with Hervé Revelli , Lopez , Santini , Bathenay and Rocheteau and also cut a good figure at European level : in the national championship cup In 1975/76 Saint-Étienne only had to admit defeat to Munich Bayern in the final .

In 1981 Gérard Janvion was again French champion with the ASSE, was also in two other cup finals in 1981 and 1982 (now together with Platini , Battiston and Rep ), then moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 1983 and ended his playing career in the 1985/86 season at the second-class AS Béziers .

He then moved back to the Antilles , where he coached several smaller clubs before becoming assistant coach of the Martinique national team in 2002 .
