Göhren is a district of the rural community city Auma-Weidatal in the district of Greiz in Thuringia .

geography

Göhren and Döhlen are two closely related and connected localities that formed the municipality of Göhren-Döhlen until the end of 2011 . They are not far from the Weidatalsperre at the southern interface with the Southeast Thuringian slate mountains . The boundaries of both places are docked and close to nature.

history

Göhren was first mentioned in a document on February 19, 1324. The name of the place is taken from Slavic, Gorjane means mountain dweller, i.e. the inhabitants living in the higher place. To the east of Döhlen-Göhren, in the Weidatal, there is the "Ungnade" parcel near the confluence of the Triebes with the Weida . The "Schmeißersmühle", which is no longer preserved, was once there. The so-called "Kemenate", which is used as a residential house and was formerly an early German fortified tower (tower castle), was preserved.

On December 1, 2011, the city of Auma and the communities of Braunsdorf , Staitz and Wiebelsdorf as well as Göhren-Döhlen merged to form the rural community of Auma-Weidatal.
