Göhrigk , Górki in Lower Sorbian , was a village in Lower Lusatia , southeast of Drebkau . From January 1, 1938, the place was part of the Jehserig community . In 1980 the place, which was close to the Welzow-Süd open-cast lignite mine , had to be relocated due to damage to the old mine . Today the corridor of Göhrigk belongs to the city of Drebkau. The place is partly also written Göhrick .

location

Göhrigk was in Lower Lusatia between the towns of Drebkau and Spremberg on a ridge of the Steinitz Alps . The surrounding towns were Merkur in the north, Jehserig in the northeast, Papproth in the southeast, the two now excavated villages of Wolkenberg in the south and Kausche in the southwest, Steinitz in the west and Raakow in the northwest.

The place was directly on the southern bank of the Görigker See , which is named after the place, but is written without "h".

history

Göhrigk was first mentioned in 1527 as Gorgk . The place name, which comes from Lower Sorbian , describes a settlement on a small mountain. For a long time Göhrigk was a Lower Sorbian village. However, the use of the Sorbian language fell sharply in the 19th century, Arnošt Muka counted 127 inhabitants for Göhrigk for his statistics on the Sorbian population in Lusatia, of which 60 were Sorbs (47%) and 67 were Germans.

In the course of the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the entire Lower Lusatia and thus also Göhrigk came to the Kingdom of Prussia . There the place was in the district of Calau in the administrative district of Frankfurt . On January 1, 1938, Göhrigk was incorporated into Jehserig . On July 25, 1952, Göhrigk was assigned to the newly formed Cottbus-Land district in the Cottbus district . Today the corridor of Göhrigk belongs to the city of Drebkau .

Because of the lowering of the groundwater level due to the opencast mine, there was a daybreak in Göhrigk in 1980 . Then the place was evacuated to protect the residents there. Göhrigk was later not repopulated for security reasons and was eventually demolished.
