Göktürk Taşdemir (born May 3, 1980 in Kars ) is a Turkish ice hockey player and official who has been under contract with Başkent Yıldızları SK in the Turkish Super League since 2016 .

Career

Göktürk Taşdemir began his career as a hockey player with Büyükşehir Belediyesi Ankara SK , for which he made his debut in the Turkish Super League in the 2000/01 season . After he became Turkish champions for the first time with his team the following year , he left the club and switched to their league rivals Polis Akademisi ve Koleji , with whom he won the national championship three times in a row in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He was then committed by the Başkent Yıldızları SK , for whom he was on the ice in the Super League until 2013. In the 2009/10 season he worked as general manager and in the 2011/12 season as an assistant coach for his club, with which he won the Turkish championship in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2013 he moved to the second Turkish league, where he played at Yükselis SK . Since 2015 he has been playing first class again. After initially being on the ice at Gümüş Patenler SK , he returned to Başkent in 2016, where he has played as a player-coach ever since.

International

For Turkey Taşdemir took part in the junior division of the U20 Junior D World Championship in 1999 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division II in 2002 , 2005 , 2007 , 2010 and 2013 and in the World Championships in Division III in 2003 , 2004 , 2006 , 2009 , when he was the best defender of the tournament and the best player on his team was awarded in 2011 and 2012 .

Coaching career

At the U20 World Championships in 2005 , 2006 and 2008 as well as the U18 World Championship in 2013 , he looked after the Turkish youngsters as an assistant coach in Division III.
