Görbersdorf is part of the municipality of the Saxon town of Oederan in the district of central Saxony .

geography

Görbersdorf is about 18.5 kilometers east of the Saxon city of Chemnitz . The Hetzbach , a tributary of the Flöha, rises in the village .

Neighboring towns of Görbersdorf are Memmendorf in the north, Kirchbach in the northeast, Oberreichenbach in the east, Gahlenz in the southeast, Hammerleubsdorf in the south, Lößnitztal and Metzdorf in the southwest, Breitenau in the west and Oederan in the northwest.

history

The first recorded form of place names dates from 1366 as Gerwirsdorph pro Oderen . At the end of 1366, Margrave Friedrich allowed the brothers Iwannum and Johannum Ywen to buy the village they had probably owned before.
The Thirty Years War brought u. a. mining in the "Ranis tunnel" came to a standstill and the number of owning farmers in Görbersdorf was reduced to three. During the Wars of Liberation against Napoleon, fighting between Austrian and French troops took place on Görbersdorfer Flur.

In 1816 August Schumann mentions Görbersdorf in the State, Post and Newspaper Lexicon of Saxony concerning a. a .:

"It has 23 houses and 240 inhabitants in which 15 farmers, half Hüfner , and 7 cottagers are; some other buildings belong to the Freiberg Mining Authority. Not far from the village there is a mill and a stamp mill . "

During the Second World War, a prisoner-of-war camp was set up in the local inn in 1942, which was also used by the Soviet occupying forces after the end of the war.

On January 1, 1974 Görbersdorf was incorporated into Oederan.
