Günter Morgner mainly created sculptural works in bronze and metal. Early works were inspired by Richard Scheibe and Gerhard Marcks , later works were more influenced by the Bauhaus , which was reflected in freer figurative settings and compositions. This influence can certainly also be traced back to his friendship and neighborhood with Hajo Rose , with whom he often discussed philosophical and aesthetic topics. Several sculptural portraits of Rose were also created. In addition to a large number of portraits, Morgner also created nudes, animal sculptures and medals.
